32 Day Day Writing Challenge – Day 8

If you’ve stuck it out this far, we’re 25% of the way through our challenge! Congratulations. Rededicating yourself to daily writing isn’t easy, but you’re almost there. Did you know that it takes doing something at least 21 times to create a habit? For us, that’s three weeks of daily writing to create the habit of daily writing.

Here’s a tip: find your optimal writing conditions, and then set the mood for writing. For me, that’s the first half hour after I wake up (even if it’s the dreaded three a.m. bout of insomnia) and the first half hour after I get home from work. I turn on some soft music, pull out the laptop, and dive into my characters.

Today’s Journal Prompt: What sets your writing mood? Is it natural light from your window seat? Curling up on the couch with the TV creating white noise in the background? Nature sounds and you sprawled out on your dining room floor? Describe how you get into writing.

Story Starter: Write a story that takes place in an enchanted forest.
